During a big winter you often get the great opportunity to get closer to animals because they want to stay close to food. Similarly with a group of Cormorants who had visited open water in the city, in this case in Medemblik.
To get to them, I first had to go down the bridge by a dyke, there was a narrow path that was covered with excrement and blood. It was immediately clear that they still managed to get food.
It was well worth the walk along the path. Never before have I been able to get so close to Cormorants and have I been able to take such detailed photos as those times of these birds. You can also see the differences that these birds have, while I first had the impression that they were all practically equal.
The photos were made with a 70-300 mm lens so that I could get them extra close. You can also set the DOF nicely so that they are beautifully detached from the background. Below you can view the series of photos that are not yet on Flickr to be published.
